Foundations

WARWIKI is a specialist reference for functional urology and genitourinary reconstruction — written for urology residents, fellows, and practicing reconstructive surgeons. It is organized around the two reconstructive subspecialties — Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) and Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery (GURS) — and is built to serve as a rapid, referenced clinical companion rather than a textbook replacement.

The Foundations section collects the core scientific and surgical principles that underlie every later topic on the site — regional anatomy and physiology, reconstructive principles, perioperative care, and the surgical tools and biomaterials in daily use. Subsequent sections apply these foundations to specific conditions, operations, and populations.

What you'll find in Foundations

  • Anatomy & PhysiologyRegional anatomy of the GU tract and pelvis, nerve supply, vascular anatomy, and functional physiology — framed for the reconstructive surgeon.
  • Surgical PrinciplesReconstructive frameworks, wound healing, flaps and grafts, GU-specific principles, and radiation tissue effects.
  • Perioperative CarePreoperative optimization, enhanced recovery pathways, analgesia strategies, and postoperative management.
  • PharmacologySearchable drug-class database organized by clinical indication — storage / OAB, voiding / outlet, bladder pain, neuropathic pain, infection, sexual medicine, hormonal, dermatologic, intraoperative, and perioperative agents.
  • ToolsSurgical instruments, biomaterials, robotics platforms, gear, intraoperative adjuncts, and energy devices.

Curriculum

The site's scope mirrors the content areas of the two reconstructive subspecialties. The viewer below reproduces the curriculum outlines for URPS and GURS, organized around the learning objectives used by each.
