Contributions​

McClung's early work covers staged urethroplasty, renal trauma management and TURNS multicenter outcomes of artificial urinary sphincter placement; his current practice is gender-affirming genital surgery.1345

  • Staged urethroplasty (2014). Lead author, with Hunter Wessells, of the staged urethroplasty chapter in Advanced Male Urethral and Genital Reconstructive Surgery.3 Cited on WARWIKI: Bracka Two-Stage Urethroplasty.
  • Immediate surgical management of renal trauma (2013). Led a National Trauma Data Bank analysis of 1,183 patients who had open renal surgery within 24 hours of admission: nephrectomy rates were 54% after penetrating and 83% after blunt injury, and 86% had concomitant surgery for other abdominal injuries.4
  • Artificial urinary sphincter erosion (2014). Coauthored the TURNS prospective study of 386 sphincters at 8 institutions: 31 (8.0%) were explanted, with higher rates after prior radiation, prior UroLume stent placement and 3.5 cm cuffs.5 Cited on WARWIKI: Artificial Urinary Sphincter (Device).
